At 8:50 a.m Tuesday morning, June 25,2019 the Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department received a call regarding a shooting at a residence in the Cypress Bend Subdivision just outside the city limits of Belzoni.
Deputies from Humphreys County Sheriff’s Department, Officers with Belzoni PD and emergency medical personnel responded and upon arrival found 31 year old Telvin Washington suffering from 2 gunshot wounds, 1 of which was fatal. Washington was pronounced deceased at the scene. A second gunshot victim, 19 year old Jashun Yarbor, was wounded in the arm and was transported to an area hospital for treatment. A third person at the residence was not injured in the shooting.
The shooting suspect fled the scene immediately following the incident. He was quickly identified and a vehicle description was developed as well. Deputies flooded the County and in less that 30 minutes had located the suspect and taken him into custody without further incident.
The suspect has been identified as 29 year old Darry Daniels. Daniels has been booked into the Humphreys County Jail and is being charged with murder, aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling. He is awaiting his initial appearance in Humphreys County Justice Court.
