After over a month without a White House press secretary, President Donald Trump has officially announced that he has tapped Katie Zacharia to serve as the next press secretary.
“It is my Great Honor to have just appointed, as Press Secretary, Katie Zacharia. Katie currently serves as Senior Communications Advisor to Truth Social (Trump Media & Technology Group), where she has been outstanding!” the president posted on Truth Social.
The 41-year-old California native has previously served as a spokesperson and deputy assistant secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and, according to Trump, Zacharia is a “frequent commentator” on Fox News and Newsmax.
The president added that she is a graduate of Pepperdine University, having earned her law degree from the Malibu, Calif., school.
Trump credited her for her work on his campaigns, “assisting in key swing states,” where the campaign “won seven out of seven.”
“She has an unblemished record of support, and has been a loyal and brilliant supporter, right from the beginning. She is, likewise, a devoted fan and member of MAGA!” said the president in his post.
“I am confident that Katie will deliver strong results for our country as the next White House Press Secretary, as she has the respect of, and will work fantastically with, the media, the American people, and my administration.”
Zacharia replaces former White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who departed the White House at the end of August, after serving in the role since Trump took office in January 2025. Leavitt made history as the youngest press secretary.
The president hasn’t indicated when Zacharia will step to the podium in the briefing room, despite a busy campaign season.
