Jon Michael “Mike” McConnell, 60, passed away on June 6, 2021 at his home in Yazoo City. Funeral Services will be held at Stricklin King Funeral Home on Saturday, June 12, 2021 with visitation starting at 10:00 A.M. followed by services at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Glenwood Cemetery.
Mr. McConnell was born December 31, 1960 to James “Billy” and Jeanne Glisson McConnell of Yazoo City, MS. He was the third of four boys. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Yazoo City, MS. Mike worked as on offshore driller for most of his life, and he drove 18-wheelers for his father’s logging company. Mike was best known for his big heart and his love for his friends and family, especially his mom and 2 daughters. He spent the last years of his life helping his friends with odd jobs and taking care of his mom.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, James “Billy” McConnell and his two brothers, Kevin McConnell and Marc “Bubba” McConnell, all of Yazoo City, MS.
Survivors include his mother, Jeanne McConnell; his brother James “Clay” McConnell (Ramona) all of Yazoo City; his two daughters, Lakken McConnell Bearden (Austin) of Inverness, MS. and Makenzie McConnell of Yazoo City; his nephews, Will McConnell of Natchez, MS., Jay McConnell (Alex) of Yazoo City, and Austin McConnell of Austin, TX.; his nieces, Candin McConnell Phillips (Justin) of Greenville, SC. and Mindy Morgan (Bobby) of Yazoo City; and several great nephews and nieces.
