A Sunday Afternoon wreck on Highway 49 at Little Yazoo sent two people to the hospital. Shortly before 3:00 PM Sunday 4-29-2018, Bentonia Fire/Rescue personnel were dispatched to a one vehicle accident with reported injuries and a possible child trapped in the vehicle. When responders arrived on scene they found a Ford SUV overturned in the median just North of the Highway 49 and Dover Road intersection. Upon further scene assessment they found no one trapped in the vehicle, but two adults were injured. There were also two children passengers in the vehicle at the time of the accident, but thanks to them being properly restrained they appeared to be uninjured. The driver of the SUV was transported by Pafford EMS to Baptist Hosptial in Yazoo City and the other adult was transported to the University Hospital in Jackson.
It appears the SUV traveling Northbound on Highway 49 had a blowout causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The SUV slid into the median and overturned coming to rest upside down. The official cause of the accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol. There were no other injuries nor fatalities reported in the accident.
