It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Charles Robert Ward, Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Charles was born on April 12, 1938, in Yazoo County, Mississippi, to Frank and Rosa Lee Ward. He peacefully departed this world on October 28, 2023, at the age of 85 at the Holmes County Long Term Care Facility in Holmes County, MS.
Charles was a man of faith, a member of the Baptist religion, whose kindness and compassion knew no bounds. He served his country honorably as a Navy Veteran and was a source of inspiration to all who knew him. As the co-owner of Whites Auto, Charles exemplified dedication and hard work.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents and son, Charles Robert Ward, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of many years, Dianne J. Ward, his daughter and son-in-law, Diana and Travis Crimm, and his sister, Shirley Ann Burns. He was a cherished grandfather to Erica Crimm (Joe) Grossman, Ashley Ward (Tim) Thomas, Charles Taylor Crimm, Charles Robert Ward, III, and Charles Anthony Ward as well as a host of great grandchildren.
Services to celebrate Charles’s life will be held with a graveside ceremony and burial at the Saxton Family Cemetery in Yazoo County, Mississippi, on November 4, 2023, with Reverend Glenn Warrington officiating. Stricklin King Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements for this loving family. In a poignant tribute, all of Charles’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, carrying him to his final resting place with the utmost respect and love.
