Approximatly 1:30 AM Monday morning (7-2-2018) a Canadian National Freight Train traveling Southbound at the Amtrak Station in downtown Yazoo City, struck and killed a man who was sitting on the North end of the passenger platform. The man identified by Yazoo County Coroner Rickey Shivers as Cedric Cathy was pronounced deceased on the scene by Pafford EMS personnel. The incident is under investigation by the Yazoo City Police Department and the Candian National Railroad Police.
