* until Friday April 05.
* At 11:00 AM Sunday the stage was 51.3 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and Major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 43.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will continue falling and will fall below
flood stage Friday April 05.
RIVER WILL FALL AND THEN COULD RISE RIGHT BACK UP
The NWS has looked at the 16-day rainfall forecast and it looks like the River will fall 4’ in the next 10 days, but then it could rebound right back up 3’ to 4’ in the next 3 to 4 weeks to these same crest levels we are currently experiencing.
WOLF LAKE
Wolf Lake is currently at 100.82’ and predicted to crest around 101’.
MDOT closed Hwy 149 near Erickson Road east of the Will Whittington
East Guide Levee yesterday.
The Satartia Road east of the Will Whittington East Guide Levee is closed.

* At 8:00 AM Sunday the stage was 35.7 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 34.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river has crested and will begin to fall this evening.

The Flood Warning continues for
The Big Sunflower River Near Anguilla
* until further notice.
* At 8:00 AM Sunday the stage was 47.2 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and Minor flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 45.0 feet.
* Forecast…The river will remain near 47.2 feet.
The Steele Bayou Structure Gates were closed February 15th.
The Backwater (landside) is at 95.68’ and the riverside is at 99.81’.
With the water currently on the ground and the rainfall predicted over the next
7-days the Backwater looks like it will get to around 97’ to 98’.
The Backwater has overtopped several roads: Blanton Road (92’),
Spanish Fort Road (92.5’), Goose Lake Road (93.4’), Low-water Bridge Road (93.7’)
and Hwy 465 (between the YBW Levee and Eagle Lake Gin).
The Backwater is close to overtopping Hwy 16 between Rolling & Holly Bluff;
and close to overtopping the Sartatia Road east of Holly Bluff.
At 97’ there will be over 500,000 acres flooded in the South Delta.
At 98’ there will be over 540,000 acres flooded in the South Delta.
This will be the worst Backwater Flood since 1973.

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a
* Flood Warning for…
North central Warren County in west central Mississippi…
West central Yazoo County in central Mississippi…
Central Issaquena County in west central Mississippi…
Southeastern Sharkey County in west central Mississippi…
* Until 345 PM CDT Monday.
* Emergency management has reported ongoing flooding in these areas
due to rising backwater from the closure of the Steele Bayou gates
and excessive rainfall runoff from areas upstream.
* The gage at Steele Bayou is currently at 95.5 feet and is expected
to reach 97 feet within the next week. The extent of the current
flood waters is expected to increase in area over the weekend and
through next week. This flood warning will likely be updated
several times.
* Some locations that will experience flooding include…
Valley Park, Fitler, Onward, Holly Bluff and Satartia.
* Major thoroughfares such as Highway 61 North and South remain
open, but several smaller county roadways are closed due to this
flooding.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small
creeks and streams, country roads, farmland, and other low lying
spots.
EAGLE LAKE RESIDENTS
MDOT closed Hwy 465 on the riverside of the levee on February 23rd.
MDOT closed HWY 465 on the protected side of the levee between the
Yazoo Backwater Levee and the Eagle Lake Gin on March 4th.
The Mississippi Levee Board closed the YBW Levee at Hwy 61 on March 4th
due to the thousands of deer that are trapped on the Brunswick Extension Levee.
Eagle Lake residents can travel up Hwy 61 to Onward, MS, then take Hwy 1 North,
and then take Hwy 465 South to get back and forth to Eagle Lake.
