Delta Wildlife will be hosting a meeting for Delta Wildlife members and recreational landowners in the South Delta next Thursday. June 20th at 1:00 p.m. at the Goodman Memorial United Methodist Church in Cary, MS. The purpose of the meeting is to provide more information about the environmental benefits that would be provided if the Yazoo Backwater Pumps were installed.
“Many environmental groups have made claims that the pumps would be detrimental to wetlands and wildlife in the south Delta,” stated John Murry Greenlee, Delta Wildlife Chairman and South Delta resident. “Delta Wildlife wishes to set the record straight by presenting the facts offered in the 2007 Environmental Impact Statement, the results of a decade of research and studies on the Backwater Area.”
The Goodman Memorial United Methodist Church is located on the corner of U.S. Highway 61 and Dogwood Street in Cary. Those interested in learning more about the benefits the Yazoo Backwater Pump would provide to the wetland and wildlife in the South Delta are encouraged to attend.
