Bentonia Fire Rescue Respond to Wreck Involving Church Bus

Friday Afternoon, the Bentonia Fire Department was dispatched to a two vehicle accident at Little Yazoo, Mississippi involving a church-bus carrying several children.  When emergency responders arrived on scene they found a church-bus/van with several passengers on board that had collided with a pick-up and one of the vehicles was leaking gasoline. According to reports 11 people including 5 children were riding in the church-van at the time of the collision. Three ambulances from Pafford EMS were also dispatched to the scene due to the potential of a high number of victims.

The accident occurred at the intersection of Highway 49 and Anding-Oil City Road in the Little Yazoo Community. According to sources some of the victims received minor injuries and were transported by a church bus from First Baptist Church of Yazoo City to a Jackson Hospital to be checked out.

The church-bus involved in the accident was from the Rulleville, Mississippi area with some of the passengers from Drew. The driver of the pick-up left in a privately owned with what appeared to be only bumps and bruises. There were no other injuries nor fatalities in the accident.

The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol.
